Dr.
Luis Ferruz obtained a Degree in Economics and Business Studies
from the University of Zaragoza (Spain) in June 1981, including
a graduate exam in July that same year. He studied this degree
course from 1976 to 1981, which culminated with the Final Degree
Award.
In 1987 Dr. Luis Ferruz, earned his Ph. D. in Financial Economics
at the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies, University
of Zaragoza. He is a full time professor in this University.
He has given seminars at MBA and Ph. D. levels in several Spanish
Business Schools. He has supervised six Doctoral Theses, three
of them with Extraordinary Award in the Macro-area of Social
Science.
Dr. Ferruz was appointed as
PhD "Merton H. Miller" Doctoral Students Seminar Tutor
at the European Financial Management Association 2006 annual
meeting. His research interests include Financial Risk Management,
Portfolio Management, Behavioural Finance, Performance Persistence
and Style Analysis, specially applied to Investment Funds and
Pension Funds.
He has published a large number
of papers in the most important Spanish financial reviews and
journals. He has also published in relevant international journals
such as Omega, The International Journal of Management Science
(JCR); Applied Economic Letters (JCR); El Trimestre Económico
(JCR); Geneva Papers of Risk and Insurance (JCR); Review of Quantitative
Finance and Accounting (JQL); Applied Financial Economics (JQL);
Applied Financial Economic Letters; Journal of Asset Management;
Pensions: An International Journal; Journal of Pension Economics
and Finance; Frontiers in Finance and Economics; Advances in
Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management; Advances in Financial
Planning and Forecasting; Review of Pacific Basin Financial Markets
and Policies, and European Review of Economics and Finance,
among others.
He is a blind referee for several
important Spanish finance and economics journals and also at
an international level.
Dr. Ferruz is the Scientific
Director of the consolidated finance research group called GIECOFIN.
He created and was Director during 9 non interrupted editions
(1998-2007) of one of the more prestigious specialized courses
in Finance Advising offered by the University of Zaragoza. As
practitioner, he was Financial Analyst and Financial Supervisor
of General Motors Spain from 1981 to 1985 with great evaluation
and consideration of his performance by the Top Financial Management
of the Multinational Firm.
